Mobile Health Clinic provides care, immunizations at Southeast Minnesota events

The Mayo Clinic Health System Mobile Health Clinic provided care and immunizations to patients across southern Minnesota during several events in Austin and Owatonna over the past month. The Mobile Health Clinic first traveled to Owatonna Middle School in late August for a back-to-school immunization event, and provided care to 48 patients and administered 109 immunizations. Steele County Public Health also participated and provided interpreters and assistance with the Minnesota Immunization Information Connection system.

In September, the Mobile Health Clinic team provided care for 28 patients and administered 48 vaccines during Austin's Welcoming Week, a national initiative that celebrates the communities that fully embrace new members and their contributions. "Our dedicated teams at events such as these bring care directly to patients in their community and address healthcare access challenges," said Trent Anderson, D.O., the Mobile Health Clinic's physician leader. Community Relations helped coordinate the events with local organizations and distributed communication materials in multiple languages. The Mobile Health Clinic features two exam rooms, an on-site laboratory and telehealth equipment that connects patients to Mayo Clinic care providers.

Since its inception, the Mobile Health Clinic has provided approximately 7,500 patient appointments and has traveled nearly 59,000 miles across southern Minnesota and Iowa. This year, the Mobile Health Clinic has hosted numerous community outreach events to provide healthcare directly to patients locally and bridge gaps in access to care.
