Mayo Clinic contributes $1 million to local community organizations in the third quarter of 2024

Mayo Clinic in Rochester Community Contributions Program contributed a little more than $1 million to area community-based organizations during the third quarter of 2024. The grants will support human services, education, youth enrichment, health access, mental health services, arts and culture, community vibrancy, diversity and inclusion efforts that serve residents of Olmsted County.

“Mayo Clinic recognizes the importance of nurturing a healthy and vibrant community and how this supports its mission,” says Erin Sexton, Senior Director of Community Relations at Mayo Clinic. “We are grateful for the tremendous quality and dedication of our community-based organizations that safeguard and strengthen the lives of our community members, staff and visiting patients.”

Grant highlights:

The Landing MN to provide services to support adults experiencing homelessness.

Southeast Service Cooperative Foundation to enhance Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education enrichment for K-12 students in Olmsted County and Southeast Minnesota.

Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys to help empower BIPOC girls in leadership, academic achievement and career readiness.

Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association to provide supportive services to refugees and immigrants.

Pamoja Women to provide health education and other empowerment services for East African immigrant women and girls.

Adapta, Inc. to enhance facilities for adults living with brain injuries, mental health challenges and substance use disorders.

NAMI of Southeast Minnesota to enhance peer counseling services for residents of Olmsted County and Southeast Minnesota.

Rochester Civic Theatre to support its upcoming performance season.

The Salvation Army to help provide healthcare, dental care and pharmaceutical needs for uninsured and underinsured residents.

Alliance of Chicanos, Hispanics and Latin Americans (ACHLA) to help sponsor Latino Fest, a community event to celebrate Hispanic heritage in Rochester.

Southeast Minnesota Initiative Fund to help sponsor the 2024 FEAST local food event.

Sports Mentorship Academy to support BIPOC youth mentoring programs in Rochester.

Community Health Services, Inc. to extend access to health services for residents with financial needs.

ServeMinnesota to help provide literacy tutors in area schools.

Olmsted County Historical Society to help sponsor the exhibit “Emergency Medical Services at a Crossroads: Lessons from the Gold Cross Ambulance Story.”

Rochester Downtown Farmers Market to support access to healthy, locally grown foods.

LifeGate Services to help sponsor their free community health fair.

Rochester Public Library Foundation to help support youth literacy outreach, lending materials and general operating needs.

Catholic Charities to support resources and outreach programs that help people living in poverty in Rochester.

Rochester Active Sports Club to provide scholarship and trail maintenance support for youth cross-country skiing and bicycling programs in Rochester.

The Advocates for Human Rights to help acclimate and protect new refugee and immigrant residents to our community.

The Bakken Museum to help bring their Olmsted Math and Computer Science Literacy program to Rochester kindergarten and 1st grade students.

Women’s Shelter to support services that protect and empower victims of domestic violence and trauma.

Twin Cities Pride to help sponsor their 2024 Pridefest community celebration.
