Mayo Clinic promotes sleep hygiene at Lourdes High School Mental Health and Wellness Fair

Mayo Clinic recently participated in the Lourdes High School Mental Health and Wellness Fair. The event helped expand students’ understanding of mental health and wellness resources available to them.

Mayo Clinic staff Toria Lodzinski, MSW, LICSW and Tina Cornell, RN, hosted a table at the event to educate students on sleep hygiene and strategies to improve sleep quality. At the fair, participants engaged in discussions about sleep hygiene – a crucial aspect of overall well-being. Sleep hygiene refers to healthy sleep habits that promote restful sleep and contribute to better mental and physical health. These include recognizing sleep stealers such as screen time, caffeine and sugar and irregular sleep schedules. Students also received practical tips on improving sleep. More than 120 students attended the event and left with tips on how to improve their sleep which contributes to good mental well-being and overall health.

We invite you to share your volunteer needs on Mayo Clinic’s volunteer platform, Mayo Clinic Cares. Mayo Clinic Cares supports Mayo Clinic's mission and values by connecting staff with nonprofit organizations in the community that have volunteer needs. The program promotes staff involvement with community outreach while supporting efforts to advance diversity, equity and inclusion.
