May is stroke awareness month

May is National Stroke Awareness Month. One in 6 people have a stroke in their lifetime. Do you know your risk of stroke? Common risk factors for stroke include increased age, having had a previous stroke, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, poor diet, inactivity, increased weight, and heart disease.

Use the acronym F.A.S.T. to look for signs of stroke: Face drooping, Arm weakness, or Speech slurring means it is Time to call 911. The faster someone having a stroke gets to the hospital the better their chance of recovery.
