Mayo Clinic in Rochester to match Red Kettle donations Dec. 16-17

Mayo Clinic is matching dollar-for-dollar any money donated to The Salvation Army in Olmsted County on Friday, Dec. 16, and Saturday, Dec. 17 — up to $50,000. This is the busiest shopping weekend of the season.

All donations will be matched, whether online or red kettle contributions.

The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign in Rochester supports health care, housing and hope for neighbors most in need this holiday season.

Mayo Clinic began matching gifts to the Salvation Army in 2017. Much of the funding received from Mayo Clinic is allocated to The Salvation Army’s Good Samaritan Health Clinic, which provides emergency health, dental and pharmaceutical services to those who are uninsured and underinsured. The Good Samaritan Health Clinic serves about 3,000 people each year, which also helps reduce the number of emergency room visits at Mayo Clinic.

“In this season of giving, Mayo is once again proud to partner with The Salvation Army to help those most in need in our community.” says Halena Gazelka, M.D., Chief Communications Officer for Mayo Clinic. “Your contributions have twice the impact. In recognition of the match, the Plummer Building in Rochester will be lit red the evening of Dec 16 and 17.”

“We are so grateful to Mayo Clinic for their continued support and for this exceptionally generous gift,” Major Cornell Voeller, Corps Officer of The Salvation Army, says of the donations of Mayo Clinic and its staff. “The Salvation Army’s programs in this community are life-changing to those individuals and families utilizing our services. By matching the dollars, Mayo Clinic is helping bring hope and healing to thousands of our neighbors in need.”
