Mayo Clinic Health System in NWWI hosts Hmong Mental Health Conference

Mayo Clinic Health System in Northwest Wisconsin (MCHS in NWWI), the Eau Claire Area School District and the Eau Claire Area Hmong Mutual Assistance Association hosted a free Hmong Mental Health Conference on Sept. 28 at Northstar Middle School in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The conference aimed to raise awareness, foster understanding and support mental health among members of the Hmong community. The 150 attendees participated in a range of workshops on various aspects of mental well-being, including sessions on recognizing signs of depression and anxiety, addressing Hmong elders’ mental health concerns, understanding addiction and substance abuse, navigating therapy expectations and reducing the stigma and shame around mental healthcare among Hmong community men. A resource fair also provided attendees with educational materials on mental health.
