Mayo Clinic Health System leaders attend Hometown Food Security event to raise awareness of food insecurity

Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) in Albert Lea and Austin, Minnesota leaders joined Hormel Foods and Austin community members at the SPAM Museum on Apr. 24 for “A Work of Art,” an event to increase awareness of food insecurity in Mower County. The event, which raised funds for the Hometown Food Security Project, featured a silent auction and artwork from students at Austin Public Schools. The students learned about food insecurity through their art projects. A percentage of SPAM Museum Store sales proceeds also benefited the Hometown Food Security Project. Speakers at the event included Jim Snee, CEO, Hormel Foods, Prathibha Varkey, M.D., CEO, MCHS and Andrea Malo, principal, Austin High School.
