Mayo Clinic contributes almost $2 million to community organizations in the final quarter of 2024

Mayo Clinic’s Community Contributions program in Rochester provided nearly $1 million to local community organizations between September and December 2024 as part of its commitment to contributing to health and vibrancy in Olmsted County. Another $190,000 was provided through Mayo Clinic’s Commitment Against Racism Initiative, and $750,000 in additional grants to local non-profit organizations that support food access and economic vitality. The grants will support efforts to respond to community health priorities of mental health, substance use disorders and access to care, as well as equity and inclusion, education and youth enrichment and overall community vibrancy.

Highlights include grants to:

Barbershop and Social Services – supporting youth leadership and mentorship programs for at-risk youth.

Boys and Girls Club of Rochester – to help provide after-school enrichment programs for children and young adults.

Byron Robotics STEAM Association – to purchase equipment to improve safety for student participants.

Channel One Regional Food Bank and Food Shelf – supporting food distribution services for residents in need across SE Minnesota.

Can Do Canines – to help train and place assistance dogs with people with disabilities.

The Center Clinic – supporting healthcare and mental health counseling services for low-income, uninsured and underinsured residents.

Children’s Dental Health Services – expanding school-located dental care services for under or uninsured children.

Crossovers and Conversations – supporting youth health education efforts in Rochester schools.

Damascus Way Re-Entry Center Inc. - providing substance use disorder peer recovery support services.

Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center – as a sponsor of their annual fund-raising gala.

Family Promise Rochester – increasing housing resources for families experiencing homelessness.

Front and Center Ministries – expanding food pantry resources for residents in and surrounding Eyota, Minnesota.

Legal Assistance of Olmsted County – to help provide free legal assistance services to residents in Olmsted County.

Minnesota Academy of Science – as a sponsor of the MN State Science & Engineering Fair for Junior and High School students.

Minnesota Health Occupations Students of America – to strengthen health sciences education experiences for area youth.

Pamoja Women – supporting health education and outreach and other human service programs for women and girls of East African descent.

Rochester Dance Company – supporting a performance of the Nutcracker to people with disabilities.

Rochester Figure Skating Club – providing enrichment opportunities for area youth.

Rochester MN Convention and Visitors Bureau – to help sponsor Celebrate Rochester New Year's Eve Community Celebration and Restaurant Week.

Salt and Light Partners – as a sponsor of their Heart for Heroes event.

Somali Social Service Association – supporting a variety of human service and health education services serving African immigrant adults and youth.

Southeast Minnesota Food Rescue and Redistribution – as a sponsor of their Equity Eats Gala.

Southeastern Minnesota Youth Orchestra, Inc. - supporting scholarship programs for youth music enrichment.

Sports Mentorship Academy – providing mentoring and academic enrichment programs for youth at risk.

The Landing MN, Inc. - to help provide supportive services for people living with homelessness.

The Rochester Salvation Army – providing medical, dental and pharmaceutical services for community members in financial need.
