Mayo Clinic sponsors event to highlight public safety
Mayo Clinic Community Relations sponsored the latest Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce Eggs and Issues event with a focus on public safety. Kate Arms, operations manager, Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service (MCAS) participated in as a panel with Rochester’s sheriff, chief of police and deputy chief of the fire department. Ms. Arms shared information about MCAS’ Community Paramedics, telehealth services and EMS and paramedic training as examples of its response to technology, workforce shortages and other community growth challenges. The panelists each highlighted their cross-organizational collaboration and compassionate and innovative service to residents and visitors. Several other MCAS staff members attended the event, including Anu Luke, M.D., division chair, Prehospital Care; Jeffrey Jensen, M.D., Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine; Jennifer Bartelt, operations administrator, Hospital Operations; Michael Juntunen, coordinator, Community Paramedics; Seth Whalen, supervisor, Emergency Communications; assistant supervisors for Emergency Communications Taylor Gibson, Dan Krause and James Kellner and Tom Fennell, regulatory officer, Hospital Operations. The presentation provided business community members with a view into MCAS, including the numerous innovative programs underway to serve the community and train future employees.
