THAT MAKES MENTAL HEALTH A PERSONAL ISSUE, A SOCIAL ISSUE, AND AN ECONOMIC ISSUE. MENTAL ILLNESS CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE, IT IS TREATABLE, AND IT IS IMPORTANT FOR US AS A SOCIETY TO TALK ABOUT IT.
Mayo Clinic is pleased to have worked with many community organizations and volunteers to bring the Mental Health: Mind Matters exhibit to the Rochester community during the summer of 2019. Mental Health: Mind Matters was produced for North America by the Science Museum of Minnesota in collaboration with Heureka, The Finnish Science Centre.
This collaborative community effort engaged many people; sponsors, volunteers, attendees, experts, businesses and organizations to shine a light on the topic of mental health and mental illness. Throughout the summer, the exhibit, special events and activities were offered to increase understanding, empathy and compassion, as well as how to get help and be resilient.
Thank you to all who supported, attended, shared, participated and learned more about this important topic that all in our community experience.
Interactives near the entrance help illustrate that mental health is part of our overall health, and that mental illnesses are similar to other illnesses: they are common, they can happen to anyone, and they are treatable.
